The International Mathematical Knowledge Trust (IMKT) was created as a step towards a Global Digital Mathematics Library with a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The grant's principal investigators, under its 2015 remit, were associated with the Global Digital Mathematics Library Working Group (GDML WG) of the International Mathematical Union’s Committee on Electronic Information and Communication (IMU CEIC, now the Committee on Permisions). The IMKT was legally constituted on December 2017 in Waterloo, ON Canada under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act.

Introduction

The International Mathematical Knowledge Trust (IMKT) Charter, for thr new international non-profit organization, was drafted by the Global Digital Mathematics Library Working Group (GDML WG) of the International Mathematical Union’s Committee on Electronic Information and Communication (IMU CEIC). The GDML WG was appointed, following ICM 2014 in Seoul, to pursue goals outlined in the report Developing a 21st Century Global Library for Mathematics from the National Research Council of the National Academies of the USA.

IMKT was created as an independent non-profit organization. Specifically, it:

  • is dedicated to increasing both the quantity and quality of mathematical knowledge accessible to the community,
  • enhances the depth of semantic representation and integration of this knowledge, and
  • facilitates high quality open information services based on the knowledge represented.

The Charter of the IMKT has the endorsement of the Board of Directors and all Members.
